PROFESSOR GRAŻYNA CHEŁKOWSKA
Solid State Physics Department
GRAŻYNA CHEŁKOWSKA studied physics at the University of Silesia in Katowice. In 1982 she gained her Ph.D. with a study of intermetallic compounds based on gadolinium. In 1996 she completed her habilitation at the University of Silesia and obtained professor title in 2009. Since 1991 she was involved in a scientific cooperation with the Laboratory of X-ray Spectroscopy in University of Osnabrück (Germany). She specializes in the study of intermetallic compounds containing rare earth and transition elements of d-type, in particular is interested in the magnetic and transport properties in relation to their electronic structure. In recent years she has expanded the scope of interests with bulk materials into those that have a size of nanometers.
